Classical Conversations

A Co-op style curriculum that follows the classical model of three distinct phases: learning the words and basic facts associated with the subject, sorting, understanding, and practicing using those words and facts, and finally, using the information by teaching the subject to someone else, writing original essays on the subject or solving problems with the information. These three phases are called, respectively, grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric. Classical Conversations curriculum is founded on the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. There are different campuses locally where students and parents meet 3 hours once a week for 24 weeks of the school-year.

Firmly Planted

Firmly Planted is a Christian homeschool co-op currently based at Beaverton Four Square Church. Co-op families meet throughout the year for a variety of events, including Monday School, field trips, holiday parties, summer activities,  and service projects that reach out to the community in which we live.

  • Students – 1st grade through High school – have the opportunity to take 3 classes, one day a week for 10 weeks, two times a year (fall and spring).
  • Classes are taught by parents in the co-op. This is a closed campus; meaning, one parent per family stays and participates either by teaching or helping in a class.

Bible Studies

Community Bible Study

Community Bible Study is a program that provides in-depth Bible studies that take participants verse-by-verse through whole books of the Bible. There is emphasis on application of the Bible in the participant’s personal life. Children are also encouraged to study God’s Word through the Community Bible Study student program. Community Bible Study provides a safe environment for babies, toddlers, children, and youth. Children usually study the same passages as the adults so that families can discuss the Bible together.

Bible Study Fellowship

Bible Study Fellowship is an international Christian interdenominational or parachurch fellowship of lay people offering a system of structured bible study. Adults get to participate in class while the children’s program aligns with the adult program to stir spiritual conversations in families.

AWANA

The mission of Awana is to help “reach kids, equip leaders and change the world for God.” Students learn scripture through memory and song. Groups meet once a week and is volunteer led.

The Altair School

Altair offers a joyful, inquiry-based learning environment for gifted children in Beaverton. We are a co-op for 5 to 11 year olds with flexible hours and class options. Our K-2 group is a parent-led homeschool group where children can learn and discover together. Our 3rd-5th grade cohort is led by Dr. Kathy Austin, a teacher with deep experience in gifted education. We offer flexible, customized schedules where children can attend for one class or multiple classes. Science, engineering and improv are our most popular drop-in class options.

George Fox Homeschool Science Classes

Youth Science Classes are offered during both the fall and spring semesters. New class schedules are available mid-September and mid-January. Classes begin in late September/early October and late January/early February. Prices range from $50 to $80, usually dependent on the age of the student and lab supplies.

Homeschool PE at the Sherwood YMCA

A fun and relaxed atmosphere for home-schoolers to increase athletic skills and social interaction with other children their age. Class focuses upon different sports, skills and group games. Masters School of Art
